This person will promote key priorities of Rhodes College with organizations, corporations, and individuals with the goal of developing closer ties and engagement between Rhodes and the Memphis community. Facilitates corporate partnerships, and nurtures relationships with foundations and individuals for potential philanthropic support. Also assists with special initiatives and programs to further campus goals. Identify new prospects and partners. Develop and implement opportunities to build partnerships between Rhodes and Memphis to build awareness of Rhodes in the community. Develops and maintains relationships with community leaders and partners. Identify and manage prospect pool of organizations, corporations, foundations, and individuals with the goal to advance Rhodes in the Memphis community. This requires intense focus on one-on-one visits with assigned prospects developing strategy for engagement and executing strategies. Work to enhance Rhodes visibility in the Memphis community including but not limited to serving on non-profit boards and community groups with key or potential partners. Attend Memphis events and meetings to represent Rhodes including Memphis Rotary, Lipscomb Pitts breakfasts, Memphis Chamber gatherings, etc. Engage students, faculty and staff when appropriate. Work with members of the division staff to broaden the base of gift prospects and to develop appropriate programs to meet the College’s highest funding priorities. Develops strong understanding of existing community partnerships and programs and builds relationships with faculty, staff, and students to identify needs and opportunities for enhanced community engagement. This position requires flexibility to travel and work occasional weekends and evenings.

Required Education

Master’s Degree required.

Required Qualifications

Five to seven years in communications, development, sales, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with liberal arts education a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities, to solve problems and demonstrate leadership skills is required. Ability to relate well to the public is a must. Preferred Qualifications
Physical Demands

Light work: General office environment that requires sitting on a constant basis. The candidate will perform computer work, keyboard use, and telecommunications on a frequent basis. Manual dexterity will be required to perform keyboard and writing activities on a frequent basis. Visual acuity is required on a frequent basis to read and review print and electronic documents. Reaching and pushing/pulling with a force of up to 10lbs will be performed on a rare basis. Mobility of the candidate will be sufficient to allow moving about the office and to and from the building on an occasional basis. The physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
